If it's not broken fix it anyway - Sounds contrary to budget planning and common sense doesn't it.  The fact is that a good service provider will bring your systems up to date before setting out to solve a problem.  Why? because many issues are caused by software version or update incompatibilities.  The updates are needed anyway and often the issue will be cleared up as a result.  So why wait for it to break!  Stay updated.
Hard Drives Begin to Replace Tape as Backup Media - While Ultrium tape drives boast improved speed and capacity over their predecessors, the cost is sometimes prohibitive.  Modern hard disk drives which are inexpensive and fast, have become popular replacements for tape based backups.  Such drives may be USB connected directly to a server, or connected directly to the network as a Network Attached Storage device (NAS).
